Info

Bird Breakout is a metroidvania with flappy bird controls that I have periodically working on over the last two years. It is by far my largest project yet almost no one has tried it so I decided to put it out there. It started off as a failed game jam project.

Flap and break blocks through a series of rooms showcasing all of the features in the game (so far).

Known Bugs

- Moving pipes can cause lag on the browser build.

- Water shader visual breaks sometimes

- Player can get stuck on moving pipes

- that‘s it for now

diamond quality movement design with smart level construction and a cute minipixel art style, I think the movement is broadly satisfying but has a few kinks, but they don't really stop the game from being fun.

damn, good game!

when I read flappy bird, my expectations were pretty much below zero, expecting to play some flappy bird clone and close it after liek 10 seconds.
wellm, played it till the end, good game. sadly didnt get all the blocks even though I didnt even try for it either.jsut glad I made it till the end, it sure made you use all your abilities there!

thanks for the nice comment! I agree that most games that mention flappy bird on here are probably low quality, but that’s probably due because it’s the dev first project or practice

Getting all the blocks is probably not realistic for a first playthrough haha

This is just a playtest and more things are to come :)

great game. The difficulty raises nicely. But I played in browser and when I got to the green pipes it became very laggy. Should have read the description, especially the known bugs section :)

thanks for playing! I think I should be able to solve that pretty easily. For now, the windows version runs much smoother than browser :)

What game engine did you use?

I used godot 4.4.1!

I heard Godot is somewhat hard to learn, good job!
